August 2021 Monthly Newsletter

Hi friends:

We have THREE ways to get more involved with Ozark, with one is coming up at the end of August, and you can meet our newest OLT staff member Abby, too!

Workday at Schulze Nature Preserve in Washington, MO

Please join us on Saturday, August 28th from 9:30am to 2pm for a volunteer workday at the Ozark Land Trust’s Schulze Nature Preserve  (SNP) in Washington, Missouri.

In November 2019, work was completed by our fabulous volunteers, on bush honeysuckle eradication. We will be able to observe our previous accomplishments of honeysuckle removal and add to our knowledge of invasive species control. We will work on clearing the trail of encroaching brush and continue cutting and clearing efforts of bush honeysuckle.

The Schulze Nature Preserve is located at 370 M.E. Frick Drive in Washington, MO.

What to bring:

  • Strong gloves, sturdy shoes suitable for working, and clothing appropriate for a day in the woods
  • Plenty of water (Reusable water bottle refills available on site)
  • Hand tools such as loppers, saws, and shovels (OLT has some tools to provide)
  • Lunch if you’d like to stay and work in the afternoon
  • All are welcome, so bring your family and friends for a fun day in the woods.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Abby Cyr at [email protected] or 320-217-4979, by 5pm Thursday, August 26th, for directions, weather updates, as well as further information.

We hope to see you there!

Our New Members Advisory Committee

Are you a supporter of OLT and want to learn more about our conservation work and help build strong connections between our members, board and staff?

If so, think about joining our new Members Advisory Committee. We will be meeting about 3 times a year, and all who support OLT, including our amazing landowners, are welcome and can play a part. Hear from our board and staff about our work and get to know the lay leaders and professionals who steward our 30,000-plus acres and strive to protect even more beautiful Ozark lands.

If you are interested in the Members Advisory Committee, please contact Jessica Smith at [email protected], or leave us a message at 573-817-2020 and we’ll put you on the contact list for the fall meeting!

OLT Outreach Events

Do you love events and event planning? Want to play a part in our in-person and online outreach across the entire Ozark region, or even in your own corner of the region? We love having community partners who can help us with imagining and planning great new ways to interact with all our supporters. And we’re even planning one right now, and would love your help.

If you are interested in planning, hosting or just brainstorming, let us know. We’d love to have you as a volunteer partner and work with you on spreading news of OLT’s mission and conservation work both to our current supporters and others. If you’re interested, please contact Larry Levin at [email protected], or leave us a message at 573-817-2020 and we’ll chat about your passion and interest in outreach.

THANKS FOR BEING A GREAT FRIEND OF OZARK LAND TRUST AND HAVE A GREAT FALL!

Sincerely,

Larry Levin
